Understanding the Difference: Classroom Training, Renewal, and Review

Classroom Training
Classroom training refers to traditional, in-person instruction. This option is recommended for individuals obtaining certification for the first time, as well as those renewing after two (2) years. Classroom training provides a complete, hands-on learning experience and ensures compliance with the most current standards and guidelines.

Renewal
If you hold a current, unexpired certification, you may be eligible for the renewal option. This option allows you to maintain your certification status without completing the full initial course.

Review
If your certification has expired within thirty (30) days or less, you may qualify for the review option. This option allows you to reactivate your certification without enrolling in the full initial course. Certifications expired beyond thirty (30) days are not eligible for review and require completion of the full class.

                                                                                                                         Important Notice (Maryland Requirement)
Pursuant to the Maryland State Board of Nursing regulations, both the Renewal Option and Review Option are considered equivalent to a full class. This is because they include the mandatory, in-person skills assessment conducted under the direct supervision of a licensed instructor.
